We introduced our book at the launch and book signing on March 22, 2009, in Southern California. The event was covered by Time Warner's
CitiCable 3. If you would like to view the broadcast

The event was a huge success! We had a
tremendous turnout including single and married women and men. The
broad range of our audience added to the diversity and energy of the event. We facilitated a question and answer session
which provided a forum for attendees to share their views generating
interesting dialogue on the topic of
The Truth About Being
Single.

"DA READERS
BOOK CLUB," Los
Angeles, CA
News from Da Readers Book Club meeting April 11,
2009.
"A book from new authors Lakeshia Rivers Ekeigwe
and Neva Lockhart, called The Truth About Being Single. Very well presented
and thought provoking ideas that will have your group talking long after the
meeting is over. It speaks to women, single or married. These women examine
the out dated truth with great insight and give clarity to the real truth."
Frances Moore,
Da Readers Book Club
We were invited to present our book to "Da Readers Book Club" in a lovely
home in one of Los Angeles' famed historic Districts. What an honor it
was to be a part of their group. The ladies of the book club range in
age from 50 to 70+. Some were married and some single. The
single women comprised divorcees, widows and one confirmed bachelorette (or
so she thought, but we will discuss her later). We presented our book
and led a group discussion by explaining why we wrote
The Truth About Being
Single and our belief that said 'Truth'
is in our biology. Our
explanation generated quite a bit of dialogue. The ladies expressed to
us their appreciation for our message which affirms the fact that it is
completely normal to want to be married; encourages women to refuse to
settle for 'Mr. Right Now;' and to set their own personal standards among
other things. Many told us they wish they had been so
admonished in their younger years. We also shared our firm belief that
one should never give up on love. Never.
Now, about
our confirmed bachelorette, (we write about some of those in our book too).
She was adamant, (as we find they usually are), that she did not want to get
married. She asserted she was very happy the way she is, "men are too
much trouble" and would upset her "routine and balance." However, when
we asked her about qualities she would look for in a prospective mate, she
came up with quite a few (as they all do). What that tells us is that
these confirmed bachelorettes have an ideal man, they just lack the belief
that they will find him. So they convince themselves that they do not
ever want to be married when in actuality, they do not want to be married to
Mr. Wrong. By the end of the signing, our truly confirmed bachelorette
purchased not one, but three books and told us if we ever received a
"flashing neon wedding invitation," to know it was from her!!!
